DESCRIPTION
Douche Bag City is a video installation composed of fifteen video animations created for the exhibition The Dissolve, SITE Santa Fe’s Eighth International Biennial in New Mexico. The installation was conceived by Solmi to be a satire of the 2008 Wall Street financial crisis. The main character, Dick Richman, is a greedy, dishonest, selfish Wall Street employee who was banished to live in Douche Bag City, a hopeless place where the greedy villains of society are imprisoned for the crimes they have committed against their community. Solmi’s complex technique combines traditional hand drawn animation with digital 3-D models animated within a gaming engine. The result is an absolutely unique combination of hand painted textures and digital animation.
